Picking your pronouns
is a sacred act
a profession of faith
of a truth eternal
a confession of a prayer of your soul.

Saying your pronouns for the first time
is like signing a contract
between your soul and spirit
embodied in the daily translations
of the phrase “I am”

Elle, a breath, a whisper of the time
your soul first breathed.

Iel, timeless ethereal majesty,
a cloak of gossamer light.

Zir, a gasp of a sigh,
a sword cutting air.

Each iteration not a calling
But a name
Card invitation whispering,
“Listen and yearn
for the vibration of your soul.”
