Hope in Hellfire
Poem

This poem is for anyone who is struggling right now and thinking of giving up or ending it all.
I wrote this poem while reflecting on my struggles with chronic suicidality. The more I reread it, the more I realize it offers something more than what I thought at the time. It offers hope. You might be asking, how can you find hope in the midst of suicide? Listen, read, and see.

I crave suicide
I never had a lover quite like death
Who knows my every whisp
And traces icicles up my spine
Soothingly pulling
Polar plunging
To take me not back to Hell,
But to the point where I feel its flames
To remind me
Sometimes when you walk through Hell
You carry its fire with you
Not as a souvenir or as a trophy
But as a bookmark for your courage
And I crave life again
